Think Parents!

European conference on parenting support

It is crucial for professionals, policy makers and researchers to put parents and children at the heart of designing, delivering and monitoring the services directed at them. This is particularly true for programmes and services that aim to realize the best possible outcomes for children by enhancing parental competencies .
This is the main conclusion of the Think Parents conference

From 10 – 12 October 2012 the first European conference on parenting support – Think Parents! – took place in The Hague, The Netherlands. Organised by the Netherlands Youth Institute and the University of Amsterdam and in partnership with Eurochild and the Council of Europe and many others. We thank our many sponsors, especially the Bernard van Leer foundation, Eurochild, the Council of Europe, the Netherlands organisation for health research and development, the VBSP foundation, the Ministry of Welfare, Health and Sports, The Ministry of Education and the municipality of The Hague.

With more than 170 participants from over 25 countries, interesting plenary sessions, 14 workshops and 34 presentations and a lively panel debate, it turned out to be a very inspiring and interesting event, bringing together practitioners, researchers and policy makers from local, national and European levels. On this website we have published all plenary and workshop presentations. We will keep you updated on further steps and results of this conference.
