Benelux - Nordic Seminar

Indicators of child and youth well-being

The link between knowledge, policy and practice

13 - 15 December 2009, Amsterdam

Benelux - Nordic SeminarThe Dutch Ministry for Youth and Families hosted the first Benelux-Nordic expert meeting on child and youth policy, organised by the Netherlands Youth Institute. The topic of the seminar was 'the use of child and youth well-being indicators in child and youth policy'. It has been a very interesting exchange between policy, research and practice.

Goal

Goal of the meeting was to share experiences with the use of indicators in research and within the policy making process. International experts presented the latest international reports on the topic. And national experiences were exchanged.

Topics

The topics discussed were:

  • why are the Benelux and Nordic countries ‘doing so well’ in child and youth well-being?
  • what role do indicators play in the policy cycle?
  • is the use of indicators contributing to the well-being of children and youth?
