School drop-out and youth unemployment
Too many young people experience problems in their learning career. As a result they drop out of school without a starting qualification. The Dutch government believes that the drop-out rate, although declining, is still unacceptably high.
Youth unemployment is more than twice as high as adult unemployment. The Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment has established the 'Act investing in young people' (in Dutch: Wet investeren in jongeren - WIJ).
